Home visit: easy ideas for a small city balcony
Nature can feel far away when you live in the city. Try these tips to make the most of your balcony – no matter how small – and create your own urban oasis.
Divide a small space
Konstantina and Alex have made their compact balcony feel bigger and more useful by dividing it into different zones. Relaxed low seating gives them an outdoor living room, with a “coffee table” for drinks and snacks. There’s also a separate dining space for when they have guests over, thanks to a fold-out table and chairs. RUNNEN decking brings the zones together.
“We have to be smart with limited space. Fold-out furniture is flexible and easy to move around. Using hanging planters means the balcony feels full of greenery without taking up floor space.”

Extend your home outside
When Konstantina and Alex renovated their home, they had to rebuild the crumbling balcony and start afresh. “We like to utilize every corner of our home,” says Alex. “The balcony took a lot of work, but now it’s our favorite place to sit and have our morning coffee in the summer.”
