Home visit: use plants to soften an interior
Try using greenery to decorate your home in different ways. House plants can soften the sharp lines of furniture and walls, and help divide an open-plan space into zones.
Create unusual displays
Find new and interesting places to display collections of plants and turn indoor growing into living art. Tania created a vertical display of small pot plants on an old stepladder at her home in Australia. “Having lots of plants on display helps us feel connected to what’s going on outside,” says Tania. Try framing a window with house plants to blur the lines between outdoor and in.
Add plants for privacy
Use large, straight-growing plants to create a subtle, natural screen that separates different parts of your home. “We came to realize open-plan living was about creating little areas,” says Tania. She used plants to soften the monochrome room divider that separates the living and sleeping areas. Try mixing different shades of green and contrasting pots to create a layered, jungle look.
