Three quick and easy kids games
Whether it’s a birthday party or just an ordinary afternoon, summer days are ideal for kids activities and just as they are. Here are three kids party ideas with little need for planning and equipment.
1. Fishing for candy
“Fishing pond” is done by hanging a divider, e.g. a shower curtain, between doorposts. Here, as well for the other games below, an easily adjusted and fixed curtain rod is used. Then, let the children form a queue. Each gets a shot with the fishing rod with a clothes peg on a string, an unseen benefactor attaches – maybe after a playful tug at the fishing line – a bag of goodies. Reel in the catch!
2. Do the limbo dance
It’s limbo time! A mix of balance, agility and game in one playful package, limbo has something for all the family. Hang a curtain rod – make sure it’s easy to adjust height – play some music to loosen those joints, and let gravity work its magic. How low can you go?
Race to the bottom
To make it extra festive, add some textile strips on the rod. How low did you go? Let stickers on the door frame keep track of everyone’s low points.
3. Gifts on a string
Keeping an entire group of children happy over time may require some creative solutions. Giving away presents is one of the more basic ones. (If all else fails, serve ice cream.)
Everyone gets a wild animal
Attach a row of soft toys or other small gifts with ribbons to a rod. Lead one blindfolded child – careful with the scissors – at a time up to the display, and simply let them snip their prize.
