Designer thoughts
Designers Marta Krupińska and David Wahl
“Role playing is important for children’s development, something the colourful HUSET series is perfect for. The playful dollhouse furniture covers all types of rooms and looks like products in our range. The gender-neutral figures resemble Swedish animals, and they can use the furniture since they can stand and sit. It’s also possible to switch the animals’ heads, bodies and legs, which we hope sparks children’s imaginations as they create their own stories when playing.”
Form/Design process
Created together with children
Children are the most important people in the world and we’re curious to hear what they have to say since we create products for them! Therefore, we invite children to creative and playful sessions where they get to participate in our product development. Here they can express themselves freely and draw, show or tell us what is important to them. Their opinions matter and make our products better. After all, they’re the experts!
Function/solution
Role playing – a playful way to develop
Mimicking parents and other adults through role playing is a way for the child to process impressions and understand their surroundings. Putting a soft toy to bed, building a road, cooking in the toy kitchen and serving dinner is so much more than fun play. It also helps the child develop their social, cognitive and motor skills. There’s so much to learn!
