Product story summary

A design icon steps into the future

Since the launch of the first blue FRAKTA bag in 1996, it has become a global success – a spacious, durable and reliable companion for carrying and storing basically anything. So how do you improve something that already seems perfect? By increasing the percentage of recycled material in the bag – and also preparing it for recycling! In this way, we’ve both preserved and future-proofed a design icon all at the same time.

Quality/durability

A timeless classic that makes everyday life easier

Since its debut in the 1990s, this versatile classic has been used in all kinds of ways around the world. Everything from luxury fashion brands to DIY enthusiasts have been inspired by the simplicity, flexibility and durability of the design. The bag has undergone rigorous testing to ensure that it can withstand a load of 25 kilos – day in and day out.

Sustainable life at home

Can a plastic bag be sustainable?

Tricky question – but allow us to explain what we’ve done to make FRAKTA as sustainable as possible. More than 90% of the bag is made from recycled material, of which at least 70% is plastic with a previous life in the food or plastic industry, like jumbo bags for milk powder or food containers. We added a small percentage of pigment and virgin material to give the bag its iconic blue colour and to ensure its durability and that it enjoys a long life, carrying up to 25 kg.
