What are down and feather?

Down and feather are common fillings in duvets and pillows. They provide a nice comfort and have a naturally effective ability to transport excess moisture and heat away, so you stay comfy dry and pleasantly snug all night. The down and feather we use is recycled or comes from meat production at traceable farms and slaughterhouses.

Material

Recycled down and feathers

Our duvets and pillows with recycled down and feather filling offer all the same qualities and comfort as those with virgin down and feathers. The filling is sourced from sleeping bags and home textiles, then washed and sterilised for optimal cleanliness. When it’s time for a good night’s sleep, indulge yourself in the fluffy warmth of recycled down and feathers.

The right comfort and warmth to snooze in

At IKEA, we prioritise the quality of our products and this also goes for our duvets. Our dedicated team of product developers ensures they meet the highest criteria when it comes to comfort and durability. This includes extensive testing of the filling, warmth levels and ability to withstand wear. We believe that once you find your favourite duvet, you won’t want to change anytime soon – so for your piece of mind we made sure to use long-lasting and machine washable materials.

How to care for your down/feather duvet

With a little care, you can prolong the life of your down/feather duvet and keep it fresh. The filling has a natural smell which can be reduced by airing or washing. Wash the duvet separately with a mild detergent (1/3 of the normal amount) on delicate cycle at 60°C. Avoid bleach/fabric softeners. Tumble dry immediately on low heat. A dryer ball or a high-quality tennis ball in the dryer will ensure more efficient drying. Air your duvet regularly, if possible, in direct sunlight.
