Glass is a fragile material and even thick-walled, robust designs should always be handled with care.
Be especially careful when lifting, moving and putting down the vase on hard surfaces, or if you fill it with decorative fillers, such as stones.
Safety and compliance
To be used as a vase or for decorations in a safe way. Please be aware that heat from candles or sharp objects such as stones inside the vase can cause the glass to break.

Material
Carefully shaped by skilled glassblowers
To make our mouth blown glass, we collaborate with skilled glassblowers who have developed the art of creating finished products over many years. At the glassworks, the glassblower gathers molten glass on a pipe and carefully shapes the glass. The talent, experience and creativity put into production makes each product personal – a piece of art in your home.
Material
What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
Product story summary
Vases for all occasions
When product developer Anh Linh and the team in IKEA home decoration were asked to make new BERÄKNA vases, they consulted an expert florist with experience working in several countries. She helped them understand what sorts of flowers people buy and how they're used—like single stem vases, tulip vases and lily vases. Her insights helped us make vases that suit different ways of making personal, pretty floral displays.
