Stations of Joy

Since 2013, IKEA has been implementing the Social Responsibility programme “Stations of Joy”. Thereby it has been supporting municipal nursery and kindergarten schools in the wider regions of the IKEA stores, creating functional spaces where children can spend their time happily and creatively.

IKEA member of the BOROUME Network

IKEA has been cooperating with the Non-Profit Organisation BOROUME since 2012. The organisation is engaged in fighting food waste and using food for public benefit purposes throughout Greece. In their cooperation’s framework, IKEA provides all meals that have not been served in restaurants of the Greek stores for free and on a daily basis. These go to organisations and foundations to supply fellow human beings who are in need. For the year 2024, IKEA has offered more than 40,750 food portions. Since 2012, we have given away 783,177 portions in total. IKEA also participates in the Alliance for the Reduction of Food Waste in Greece.

Shelter for female victims of violence and their children in Attica

In 2024, IKEA undertook the renovation, decoration, and complete furnishing of a shelter intended to host female victims of violence and their children in Attica in collaboration with the Hellenic Police. With IKEA’s experienced decorators and the products offered by IKEA, the shelter was transformed into a warm accommodation for the women and children who have experienced violence in their lives.

We support the Greek Make-A-Wish Foundation

We support the Greek Make-A-Wish Foundation and love making wishes come true for children with life threatening medical conditions. According to research, children regain their body and emotional strength when a wish of theirs is granted. This strength makes it easier to deal with their illness. In this framework, in 2025, IKEA offered equipment and furniture to 31 children who wished to have the room of their dreams. Since the beginning of their cooperation, IKEA has furnished 224 children’s rooms.
